GiftAMeal, the St. Louis-based restaurant marketing platform, has been acquired by a customer engagement and rewards company based in Orlando, Florida.
Swipe Savvy’s acquisition of GiftAMeal, founded by St. Louisan Andrew Glantz, was effective March 16. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but GiftAMeal will remain headquartered in St. Louis and Glantz will join Swipe Savvy as its vice president of strategic partnerships, according to a Wednesday news release.
Glantz founded GiftAMeal in 2014 while he was a student at Washington University. Through a subscription-based platform with restaurant partners, GiftAMeal helps drive customer engagement while giving back. Customers at participating restaurants scan a QR code and share a photo, allowing diners to trigger meal donations at no cost to them.
GiftAMeal has more than 1,200 restaurant location partners across 46 states and has helped provide nearly 3 million meals to families, officials said.
Swipe Savvy unifies payment processing, AI-driven analytics and point-of-sale for more than 18 industries, including restaurants and retail. With its acquisition of GiftAMeal, the company is combining its engagement and loyalty tools with GiftAMeal’s built-in social impact experience, officials said.
“GiftAMeal hs proven that doing good and driving growth go hand-in-hand,” Jason Mayoral, CEO of Swipe Savvy, said in a statement. “Their platform creates a genuine emotional connection between guests and the restaurants they love. Together, we’re excited to give brands new ways to reward customers not just for what they spend, but for the impact they help create.”
GiftAMeal counts brands like Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken, Snarf’s Sandwiches, Chick-fil-A and Scooter’s Coffee among its customers. Beyond its social impact, officials said guests who use GiftAMeal visit 39% more often, spend 20% more per order and tip 32% more per visit.
The company will continue to operate both as a standalone offering and as an integrated feature within Swipe Savvy’s product suite.
“When I started GiftAMeal, the goal was simple: make it easy for restaurants to give back and give guests a reason to feel good about where they eat,” Glantz said in a statement. “Nearly 3 million meals later, joining Swipe Savvy means we can bring that mission to more restaurants and more communities.”
