Wash Ave Food Hall unveils plans for interactive games and social area

The planned Wash Ave Food Hall has added an indoor lawn game concept to its lineup.
The lawn game concept, Wash Ave Social, adds four reservable indoor turf lawns inside the food hall at 1122 Washington Ave., which is expected to open this fall.
Guests will be able to play games including cornhole, bocce and ladder toss while being able to order food and beverages from vendors throughout the food hall for delivery directly to their game area. The lawns will be available for one-hour sessions and can accommodate up to eight people each. The space is also expected to be used for recurring programming, like tournaments.
Alex Oliver, CEO of the food hall’s developer, Oliver Properties, said Monday in a press release that the goal is to give groups an interactive option that goes beyond the offerings of a traditional bar or restaurant.
“Wash Ave Food Hall has always been envisioned as much more than another place for a drink and a meal,” Oliver said.
Wash Ave Social will be run by the food hall’s manager, Fireten Hospitality, a Fort Lauderdale, Florida-based national food hall operator.
Oliver Properties began construction on the Wash Ave Food Hall in September. The $6 million concept is expected to include six full-kitchen food concepts, two specialty food and beverage concepts, a central bar, a self-pour beverage wall and indoor-outdoor gathering space.
About half the food hall’s tenants have been announced so far: 4 Hands Brewing Co., Steve’s Smash Burgers & Fries, Maci’s Prime BBQ and Asian fusion concept Little BAO have all been announced as tenants in the food hall.
Oliver Properties says it has invested over $150 million in downtown St. Louis. Initially focused on residential properties in the area, the company has gradually shifted its focus to filling retail and office spaces along Washington Avenue.
Oliver Properties announced a new flexible office concept, The Therm @ 1017 Olive, in July. A convenience store and speakeasy, Dorsa Market, is slated to open at 1007 Washington Ave. later this year.
