Connecting Our Community: Big Updates on the Free City Wifi Parks Project!
We have some thrilling news to share regarding our mission to bring high-speed, free public wifi to our city parks. We are officially moving into a new chapter of this project, and the finish line for a more connected St. Louis is in sight!
Phase 2 is Entering the Home Stretch!
We are proud to announce that installations at all of our Phase 2 parks are now complete. The final piece of the puzzle for this stage is happening right now: we are installing a specialized signal booster atop the Firehouse tower.
Think of this tower as a “digital bridge”—it will provide the vital connection needed to bring high-speed internet to both Hyde Park and DeSoto Park. We are currently getting the final schedule set to get this tower online.
Welcoming Phase 3: Fairgrounds Park & More
As we wrap up Phase 2, we are officially kicking off Phase 3! This is a major milestone that includes:

A Double Boost for Fairgrounds Park: We are beginning a two-part installation process to ensure Fairgrounds Park has a strong, reliable signal from corner to corner.

Strengthening our Roots: We aren’t just adding wifi to the air; we’re working underground too! We are repairing and reinforcing our city-wide fiber-optic cables (the “super-highway” of the internet) to make sure the connection is faster and more resilient than ever before.

The Fire Station Hub: We are adding an additional access point at the Fire Station to ensure the surrounding area has maximum coverage.
Quality Control: Only the Best for Our Residents
During our recent setup at St. Louis Park, our team caught a small equipment hiccup. A few power units weren’t meeting our performance standards. Rather than settling for “good enough,” we overnighted brand-new replacements to ensure that when you log on, your experience is seamless. We’re happy to report those new parts are being installed immediately!
STL in the Spotlight
Last week was a busy one! A film crew was in town to document our progress for a special promotional video. They interviewed our technical teams, the experts leading the charge for digital fairness, and—most importantly—you. They spoke with local residents about what free park wifi means for our community. We can’t wait to share the final video with you all!
